Where the Pacific leaps on Ka'anapali Beach at the foot of mythic Black Rock, the Sheraton Maui's 23 acres touch pure blue waves. Lava-rock waterways swirl towards a sprawling lagoon. And torches flame at sunset as a cliff diver plunges into the sea.

AMENITIES AT A GLANCE:

In Hawaiian tradition, it is the place where natural forces come together: A natural promontory rises 100 feet above the sparkling surf. Pu’u Keka’a, “hill creating strength through enlightenment.” For ancient Hawaiian royalty it was a magical place. Now, generations later, this ancient spirit is reborn at the Sheraton Maui.

Now, torches once more light the sky at dusk as a cliff diver plunges into the rolling surf. 23 acres of tropical landscaping, rife with native blossoms, sweep down to the cobalt Pacific. Lava-rock waterways meander towards a vast lagoon. And through a grove of coconut trees lies Ka’anapali’s purest expanse, where a sheltered cove shimmers with crystal water and stories are told in footprints on a half-mile of brilliant sand.

Situated on a beautiful wide stretch of Ka’anapali Beach, the Sheraton Maui is just three miles from Lahaina, the "art capital of the Pacific", and within walking distance of Whalers Village. The hotel is two-and-a-half miles from the Kapalua-West Maui Airport, providing quick 30-minute scheduled Honolulu flights. Kahului Airport, 31 miles from Ka’anapali, is served by inter-island, domestic, and international carriers.

Torch Lighting Ceremony:
As the sun begins its slow dive into the ocean, torch lighting signals the nightly ritual of Lele Kawa (cliff diving). Legend tells us the last chief of Maui, Kahekili (Thunderer), proved his spiritual strength by leaping from the sacred Pu’u Keka’a to the Pacific. With sunset painting the sky, young cliff divers honor their heritage nightly - - during our cliff diving ceremony - - by plunging from Black Rock.

Swimming Pool:
Sheraton Maui features a 142-yard fresh water swimming lagoon that meanders through tropical gardens, and under wooden-carved bridges. An outdoor spa set amidst lava rock formations and waterfalls cascading from lush tropical flower beds assure you that you are in Hawaii. With depths from one foot in our Keiki (Kiddies) Pool, to eight feet throughout the lagoon, guests of all ages will enjoy our water oasis.

A nearby outdoor spa is set amid lava rock formations and surrounded by two outdoor bars. Tropical landscapes with coconut palms and expansive lawns enhance the overall ambiance.

Keiki Aloha Maui

A Hawaiian experience through the eyes of children, the Keiki Aloha program combines Hawaiian history and culture with arts, crafts and games that children will love! Keiki ages 5 through 12 are welcome to this daily program held at our sister property, the Westin Maui. Build a sand castle, twist a Ti Leaf bracelet, or string a flower lei and wear your lei, Hawaiian style, as you learn to dance the hula. Additional activities include tapa printing, smoothie mixing, sand art and a wildlife tour. Keiki Aloha is daily from 9:00am - 3:00pm and lunch is included. Full day program rate is $45.00 for the first child and $30.00 for each sibling.

Keiki Aloha is a licensed and insured childcare facility designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for children. Half-day programs are available with lunch for $25.50 per child and without lunch for $22.50 per child. Evening programs are offered Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at $20 for the first child and $10 for each sibling. Ka'anapali Beach

BEACH/POOL
Privately nestled against historic Black Rock; Sheraton Maui’s 23 oceanfront acres flow gracefully from the crest of Pu'u Keka'a, to the shores of world famous Ka’anapali Beach. Once the home of Hawaiian royalty, the crystal waters and vibrant reef life of Black Rock boasts one of the best snorkeling spots on the island.

The pure white sand of Ka’anapali beach, along with commanding views of the regal Pacific, neighboring islands, and the pristine Ka’anapali coastline give Ka’anapali Beach its recognition as one of the best beaches in Hawai’i.

A fresh water oasis awaits you in Sheraton Maui’s 142-yard natural swimming lagoon. Enhanced by lava rock waterways, lush tropical foliage, and gentle-swaying palms, this recreation paradise is more than just a pool, it’s an experience.

Couples may tuck away in a secluded corner, while children enjoy hours of fun in the Keiki (Children’s) Wading Pool. Others will find serenity in the lava rock whirlpool, or relaxation in a poolside massage.

Two poolside bars compliment each end of the water system with tropical refreshments and hot barbecue specialties served throughout the day.

A professional pool staff provides tanning consultation, towels and gazebo rentals for refuge from the warm Ka’anapali sun.

HISTORICAL EVENTS
Nightly Torch Lighting & Cliff Diving Ceremony at sunset.

BRIEF HISTORY OR UNIQUE CHARACTER ITEM Sheraton Maui was the first resort development on Ka’anapali Beach built in 1963 at historic Black Rock.

A $160 million reconstruction effort completed in 1996 gave rise to 23 oceanfront acres of luxuriant landscaping, six distinct towers, three dynamic restaurants, and a 142-yard fresh water swimming lagoon.

A nightly tradition of torch lighting and cliff diving commences each evening at sunset.

Almost all of our 510 rooms and suites directly face the Pacific, with a private lanai for contemplating the view. Inside, the craftsmanship of old Hawai'i reveals itself in lamps of bamboo design, patterns recalling block prints on kapa, and rattan chairs drawing on the peacock shapes of ancient thrones.

Our unique 'Ohana (Family) Suites encompass two spacious and adaptable rooms. And at the pinnacle of Pu'u Keka'a, an atmosphere of exclusivity reigns. On the highest level rises the Ali'i Suite, surrounding you with prized artwork, from authentic koa bowls and drums to original Matson menu covers from the 1930s whose images have defined Hawai'i for generations.
